This gouache is part of the cycle Bilder aus dem Warschauer Ghetto, painted by Teofila Reich-Ranicki during the war. In it the artist captured everyday life and death in the ghetto. In addition to suffering, hunger and cruelty, the images also document Jewish resistance. In 1999 these images were shown for the first time in an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt. The exhibition then toured to 18 other cities in Germany.
